History is fun and through its study we can gain insights in humanity as a whole and our leaders. Students will come away from this class with an understanding of not only the life and times of Mary, Queen of Scots, but also with an idea of the effect she had on her own time period and our time as well. The ability to understand leadership from all of it's angles is an excellent way to begin a deeper study of history,
Hello! I’m Sondra Rapoport, your friendly neighborhood Roman Historian. I taught with Harvard University's Dept of Classics for 6 years as a Head Teaching Fellow. I taught classes on The Rome of Augustus, Roman Games, and Middle Ages and won awards for distinction in teaching each semester I taught with Harvard. 55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I will be speaking live to the students as well as using a wide variety of slides from my travels around the world. I welcome questions before, during, and after the class. A class that interacts with the material learns it at a deeper level and I welcome questions at any time during the class. Each class will begin with a main question or idea for the students to keep in mind, as they will see the theme reappear. The class will all end with guided discussion based upon the main question and any interesting questions or comments. This will not be ‘dead air’ time, students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and questions. Please note: In this particular class, any discussion of Mary's execution and Darnley's death will be discussed delicately and factually, without focusing on the violent aspects. Images shown will be paintings or sculpture of the individuals and not their unfortunate ends.
