For generations superheroes wearing costumes have fought crime in the name of justice on the pages of comic books and at the box office which has inspired fans of all ages. In this ongoing class we will cover as many superheroes as possible. All superhero fans are welcome. If you have watched any of the cartoons or movies, if you are a collector of the comics, if you have a favorite superhero, or if you are new and simply want to learn more about superheroes this is the right class for you. This class will be learner directed after the first four weeks. Each week students will vote on a superhero movie which they will watch outside of class and we will discuss the movie of the week in class. Viewing of the selected movie should be done outside of class. Students will share what they liked and didn’t like about the movie of the week. I will then lead the class in a scene for scene retrospective during which everyone is welcome to add their commentary. For the first four weeks I have picked topic films. A sample schedule is listed below. Week 1: Captain America: The First Avenger Week 2: Captain Marvel Week 3: Iron Man Week 4: Iron Man 2 Future movies of the week will be voted on by students.
Learning Goals
All learners are welcome to share their opinions and commentary for each weekly film. This is a safe space to talk about movies and all learners should be respectful.
