Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
In this one-time class for ages, 3 to 5, the children will learn age-appropriate information about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. We will read the book "I am Martin Luther King, Jr." by Brad Meltzer. The story will be presented on the screen while the teacher reads the story. Color activity sheets will be made available for printing prior to class. The color and activity sheets will help reinforce learning and understanding of who Dr. King is and what he did.

No prior knowledge of Dr. King is needed. Questions will be asked throughout the class to help with understanding the story being shared.
Please note that the "I am..." series by Brad Meltzer is a great place to begin learning about historical figures however the books sometimes leave out or slightly change events. Although I do not understand the purpose of this and I do not agree with it I still feel that this series of books is a great place to begin learning about history and important people in the world.
Learning Goals
Students will learn who Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr was and how he participated in the Civil Rights Movement.
