Class Experience
Students will learn in this class by several methods: 1) Watch and Learn; 2) Progressive Training; 3) Listening to Instructions; 4) Active Engagement with the Coach. Students will learn the fundamentals of martial arts for film, including the mindset and skills. Martial Arts on film is distinct from sparring in that spacial awareness, choreography, and partner flow are stressed differently. This includes: 1. How To Flow 2. How To Make Combos 3. Studying Stunt Performers from Movie Clips 4. Learning Functions of Major Muscle Groups and Ligaments By approaching training this way, all of the following skills will come much easier. Tricking Disciplines & Concepts: 1. Capoeira 2. Gymnastics 3. Breakdance 4. Tae Kwon Do 5. Parkour SMA believes in combining the elements of movement disciplines with the foundation of portraying self-defense on film for the welfare of others. We aim to improve self-belief, body awareness, compassion, cultural awareness, athleticism, spatial awareness, and most importantly joy for our comrades to be at peace with one another.
Coach Eurico has been teaching various movement arts such as Capoeira, Martial Arts Tricking, Parkour, and Gymnastics for over 10 years. He is also actively training with the community and working in the stunt and performance industry.
Homework is either a skill, combo, or challenge that we performed in class.

Learners are assessed by being able to perform in all fundamental areas of Tricking. 8 Basic Kicks (Meia Lua, Armada, Push, Side, Hook, Round, Touchdown, Compass) 4 Basic Cartwheels (Cartwheel, Gumbi, Scoot, Macaco) Basic Postural Shapes (Bridge, Handstand, Pike, Straddle, etc) 4 Basic Rolls (Log, Barrel, Forward, Backward) 6 Basic Punches (Jab, Cross, Hooks, Uppercuts) 7 Basic Sword Slashes (Single Wielding) 5 Basic Sword Jabs (Single Wielding) 4 Basic Rattan Slashes (Dual Wielding) 4 Basic Aerials (Butterfly, Tornado, Cheat Gainer, Raiz) 2 Basic Spin Directions (Frontside & Backside)
1 hour 5 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Tricking is an an American fusion of martial arts and performance acrobatics. So, we will go upside down frequently to do handstands, or be spinning to do kicks. It’s important that learners have enough space (8x8 minimum) to practice and train.
