Students will use their prior knowledge of the Mario coins to compete and test their knowledge in an interactive game of Kahoot. Kahoot is a competitive game where students will play against each other to show what they know about this topic. They will need to have a secondary device to play on, such as a phone or tablet or they may use a different window on their computer to play while they watch the trivia on the zoom feed (please reference the course description video). I will provide the Game Pin Number at the beginning of the class for us to begin. You can play the game on Kahoot.it or on the Kahoot! app (download prior to class). Students choose their answers on their secondary device or secondary window, but see the game play and scores on Zoom. We will discuss what good gamesmanship should look like because the game can bring out our competitive side on the sweetest of kids.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the importance of good sportsmanship and respectful social interaction, while building their knowledge of Mario coins.

Hello, knowledge explorers!
My name is Ms. Jenifer. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and love to travel to practice my Spanish skills. I love learning about new things and cultures and sharing that knowledge with others. This is why I became an educator.
I received a master's degree in education from the University of Long Island and a bachelor's degree in English from the John Jay School of Criminal Justice. I also hold a TESOL certificate for teaching ESL.
I have been teaching in the classroom since 2015. I have experience teaching 6-11th grade as a special education teacher. I co-thaught English and social studies, lead a girl's self-esteem group, and facilitated community restorative justice circles for the students as well as other school community members. I also teach ESL online to English language learners. These two positions have equipped me with the skills to teach students at different levels and provide them with tools to access the topic of the lesson whether they have prior knowledge of the topic or not.
In my spare time, I like reading, writing poetry, and continuing my quest for new knowledge. I hope that through my classes I can help spark your scholar's inquisitive mind to seek new knowledge as well.
