Some ideas for the organism of the week: Green sea turtle box jellyfish Australian giant cuttlefish Sharks - Rhincodon typus
Dr. Lopez has a PhD in Ecology and has conducted marine ecology research.
There is NO mandatory homework. Students are encouraged to come to class prepare to discuss the selected organism of the week. Students can prepare by researching the organism before class.
I will provide weekly handouts with questions on the organism of the week. If the student want to put together a handwritten book on organisms that live in the ocean, they will need access to printer, paper, 3-ring binder, and pencil/pen. If the student want to put together a digital book on organisms that live in the ocean, they will need access to Microsoft Word to complete the handout.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be conducting online research before (OPTIONAL) and during class. Learners will require parental supervision to prevent students from accidentally accessing inappropriate or sensitive material online during their research.
