In this class, students will learn about Marine Debris. Marine Debris has become a global issue, affecting our oceans, marine life, and human health. This program introduces the problem, providing students the opportunity to understand how trash reaches our oceans and what happens to these various materials when they become part of the marine environment. Students will connect how choices made today will impact marine organisms in the future. The students will have an opportunity to brainstorm and propose solutions to the marine debris problem.
Learning Goals
Students will:
Identify the pathways of trash entering the ocean.
Explain the impacts of marine debris on wildlife and humans.
Investigate physical properties of the oceans and marine debris.
Examine choices that can affect the presence of marine debris.
