US Grade 1 - 4
This class will teach you all about the history of marine life in our oceans. We will follow the timeline from some of the earliest marine creatures like the anomalocaris (its name literally means strange shrimp), the highly unusual helicoprion, the ichthyosaur and much more, including of course, the megalodon. Our journey will take us through 5 mass extinction events, we will learn what caused these creatures to become extinct and explore some of the living fossils we have in our oceans right now. The class is relaxed but packed with the latest science. Interaction and questions are positively encouraged but if you want to sit back and take it all in that's fine too. You'll be taught by an experienced marine biologist/marine educator - WiseOceans Academy have been teaching virtual marine education for over 11 years and each of teachers brings with them real life experience in marine conservation.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the evolution of ocean creatures, exploring their anatomy, behaviour, diet and reasons for their extinction.
