Homework
1-2 hours per week. For learners choosing to complete the homework, it should take no more than 1-2 hours per week to complete.
Assessment
Assessments will require learners practice and apply the concepts explored in the lesson content and is aimed at identify learner's achievement of each lesson's learning objectives. 📝For learners choosing to have their work assessed, letter grades are assigned as follows: Weekly Discussion: 5 pts/lesson = 40 pts. Lesson Vocabulary Mapping Assessment: 10 pts/lesson = 80 pts. *Course Project = 80 pts. (rubric provided after completing the first lesson) Total Points = 200
Grading
Grades will be provided by request. If no parental contact is received, I will assume assessments are not needed and learners are using the course in a way that best suits their needs.

Learners will explore the foundational concepts of ichthyology through multi-media lessons hosted in Genially.com. 

Lesson material will include instructional videos, text and interactive games.

Lesson 1:
Fish Classification
 In this lesson, students will learn about the classification of marine fish species. They will explore the hierarchical system of classification, including kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Through examples and interactive activities, students will gain an understanding of how scientists classify different fish species based on their characteristics and evolutionary relationships.

Lesson 2:
Overview of Major Classes of Fish
 This lesson provides an overview of the major classes of fish, including jawless fish, cartilaginous fish, and bony fish. Students will learn about the key characteristics and examples of each class, such as lampreys and hagfish for jawless fish, sharks and rays for cartilaginous fish, and bony fish.

External Anatomy of Fish
 In this lesson, students will explore the external anatomy of fish, including fins, scales, gills, mouth, and eyes. Through diagrams and interactive learning activities, students will learn about the functions of external features and how they contribute to the survival and behavior of fish in their marine environments.

Lesson 4:
Internal Anatomy of Fish
 This lesson focuses on the internal anatomy of fish, including the digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, and reproductive system. Students will learn about the unique adaptations of fish organs to their aquatic lifestyle and how these adaptations contribute to their survival. Through interactive media, students will gain a deeper understanding of fish internal anatomy

Learners should have a foundational understanding of the major characteristics of the 6 kingdoms of life: Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, Eubacteria, and Archaebacteria.
