Got a learner curious about what is happening beneath ocean waves? Join us as we take on the role of a marine biologist and discover the fascinating and unique world under the sea. Each class sure to keep your learners attention with a mix of virtual reality, videos, games, pictures, experiments, and crafts. Class 1- What is a marine biologist? Discover what a marine biologist does. Then take our first dip into the ocean to learn about a very important part of the ecosystem, coral reefs and create your own. Classes 2-4- Class 2-4 will each focus on a different zone of the ocean (sunlight, twilight, and midnight). Each class students will learn about a variety of animals that live in that zone. In the sunlight zone, find out how blue whales communicate and what makes a shark buoyant. In the twilight zone, discover what a viperfish is and why midlevel jelly fish glow. For the midnight zone, learn if the vampire squid is as scary as it seems and how the angler fish adapts to darkness. Class 5- Ocean Conversation- Find out how human actions are hurting the home to all these creatures we have learned about. Attempt to clean up an oil spill in a hands on activity. Learn what you can do to help protect the seas.

Supply List
This class is highly interactive and each class includes a hands on experiment or activity. Students will need various common art and household supplies for class. Students will receive a supply list upon enrolling.

Welcome to Outschool! My name is Carly and I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child.
I received my Masters in Elementary Education from Truman State University in 2013. Due to my love of travel, my teaching experiences have been very varied. In the five years since graduating, I have taught kindergarten through third grade at the Escola Americana in Brazil, preschool at the Yoyogi International School in Tokyo, and second grade at the Canadian International school in India. I am currently teaching English online with VIPKid to students across the globe. These experiences have helped shape me into the teacher I am today; patient, flexible, adaptable, inventive, caring, and friendly.
I believe the classroom should be a warm and welcoming place where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and making mistakes.
