In this month long ballet class dancers will be introduced into the basic ballet technique and skills. We will start each class with a short stretching activity, then move to ballet technique, across the floor activities and then finish each class with a leap or game. Our ballet technique will cover such things as plies, tondues, piques and a few more simple beginner steps. Each class we will add on to steps and skills we practiced in the previous class. This class will include 4 classes during the month of March, each week we will be learning new ballet steps and terminology. Week 1- Intro to ballet, plies, tondues and the 5 ballet arm positions Week 2- Piques, passes, skipping and galloping Week 3- Skipping backwards, arabesque and leaping Week 4- Ballet jumps (echappes and soutes), passe walks and review of all the steps we have learned I encourage all dancers to have enough space to move freely around their dance area, dress in something comfortable that will allow them to move more easily. Please position their camera where I am able to see the top of their head all the way to their toes I love for students to engage throughout class, ask questions, dance along and try their best! No previous experience required!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basic beginners ballet skills and technique. By the end of the month they should be able to repeat and demonstrate basic ballet skills and terminology.

Parental Guidance
As with any physical activity we want to be sure we are being as safe as possible. Please provide your child with a space that is open where they are free to move and dance without interference. Also please be sure to be dancing on non slick floor. If you are dancing on a slippery surface please consider dancing barefoot (no socks).
All dance steps are appropriate for the age group but please make your best judgement as a parent if steps are too hard for your dancer or potentially dangerous.
We ask that all parents be off camera to supervise and watch their dancer.
Supply List
Comfortable clothes to dance and easily move in Ballet shoes if you have them, otherwise socks or barefoot will be fine
