All learners must first take "Understand Topographical Maps: Find Your Way When Your Phone Dies 9-13yo ," "Intro To The Orienteering Compass: Find Your Way When Your Phone Dies 9-13yo ," and "Map & Compass 101: Find Your Way When Your Phone Dies" classes prior to taking this class. The skills taught in this class build on the previous classes and are more intermediate. Each week, students will be presented with a new map and a new scenario to solve using their newly acquired map and compass skills. Class 1 on 12/29/2021: Students will work with a map from Lake Tahoe, CA. In this class, students will be presented with a scenario and a challenge to solve using their map and compass skills. Class 2 on 1/5/2022: Students will work with a map from Pikeview, CO. In this class, students will be presented with a scenario and a challenge to solve using their map and compass skills. Class 3 on 1/12/2022: Students will work with a map from Juniper Springs, FL. In this class, students will be presented with a scenario and a challenge to solve using their map and compass skills. Class 4 on 1/19/2022: Students will work with a map from North Adams, MA. In this class, students will be presented with a scenario and a challenge to solve using their map and compass skills.
Learning Goals
Students will become more familiar and comfortable with using the map and compass in a variety of scenarios.

Please print out the provided maps for each class and also get a basic orienteering compass like the one in the picture provided.
