In this Mandarin Chinese class, we will explore shapes, sizes, patterns, visual-spatial recognition, and relative comparisons with hands-on activities. The amount of Mandarin Chinese and English used will be adjusted depending on learners. For each class, there will be a quick introduction. We will then practice identifying objects on screen and in real life. We will practice using the unit vocabulary. Students are also welcomed to do a show and tell with toys, pictures, and objects related...
This class is taught in Mandarin Chinese.
Learners will improve their speaking confidence and speaking fluency in a safe and welcoming environment.
I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker with a neutral accent. I have several years teaching Mandarin Chinese to children. I am fluent in pin yin, zhu yin, simplified characters, and traditional characters. We will have so much fun! I have been a Camp Counselor with Camp Adventure (University of Toledo + Taipei American School). I have many years of experience doing arts and crafts with Mandarin Chinese bilingual children.
-Crayons/markers, paper or playdoh/clay and plastic tray -Child-friendly art scissors (only if learners are comfortable or with parental support)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental support is highly encouraged since we may be working with scissors. If a learner doesn’t have a pair of scissors, we can work with playdoh/clay/building bricks/blocks or coloring pages. Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.
