In this class, which meets for an hour each week we will focus on writing/reading or speaking/listening.
Class experience
We will spend our time on either oral fluency or written fluency depending on what the family/student chooses. We will find points of interest (usually hobbies) that a student can focus their learning on so that they learn things that will be interesting and useful to them. We will interact through the video classroom once a week with an option to do some extra practice spread throughout the week in short 5-minute interactions. Class time structure: 0-10 min - Teacher-led - Review old words...
Each week we will seek to learn 10-15 new words and at least 1 new grammar structure. This will depend on the topics the student/family chooses.
I lived in China for four years where I learned and practiced Chinese each day. My wife is Chinese and I converse with her and her family in Chinese 3-days a week. I have taught dozens of students introductory and intermediate Chinese lessons. I love to get students into topics they are interested in talking/learning about so that they have some desire to learn other than "because they say so"
Homework Offered
Homework will be to produce some samples of each thing we learn during the week. It will also include reading/listening to examples of Chinese speakers.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
