Class Experience

Students will learn how to have basic conversations in Mandarin Chinese, as well as how to read and write more words in pinyin and simplified characters.
Ms. Teyen has been a Mandarin Chinese Teacher since 2014. She has taught it to all ages, from the youngest at 3 to the oldest in high school. She has taught both Simplified and Traditional Characters before. Ms. Teyen has also studied abroad in Taiwan (her home country) during her Junior year of college where she participated in a foreign language exchange program to learn more Mandarin Chinese. She also studied it all four years in high school and received a 5 on her AP Chinese exam.
Each week, students will be asked to practice writing their vocabulary words 5 times in pinyin and simplified characters. For week 7 and 8, students will write a skit or short story and present it to the class on Week 8.
Notecards, notebook, coloring tools (crayons, markers, or coloring pencils), and a pencil
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
