Description
Class Experience
Student will understand the concept of multiplication and learn and memorize multiplication facts from 0-9. Week 1: Understand the concept of multiplication and understand beginning strategies (e.g., doubling, skip counting, repeated addition) Week 2: Begin to use partial products strategy to use facts they know to figure out unknown facts (i.e., figure out 6 x7 is the same as 3 x 7 + 3 x 7 Week 3: Extend understanding and application of strategies and apply to new problems. Week 4: Consolidate learning and begin to use facts more automatically.
Student will need something they can move around and count, e.g., a pile of popsicle sticks, rocks, straws, toothpicks.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
