This class will introduce three approaches to selling photographic works. Students will gain information about the various approaches and what's required for each of them, and should have a sense of which method might be a good match for their style and interests. The three approaches are: 1) Portrait Photography: scheduled photoshoots for taking photos of people including families, couples, seniors, etc., sharing either prints or digital files 2) Selling Prints and/or Products: selling in person (fairs, markets) and selling online (using online marketplaces for distribution vs. printing your own inventory) 3) Stock Photography: selling digital photo files on commercial marketplaces, learn about exclusivity and non-exclusivity For each approach, we will explore: - Main "technical details" - Pros and Cons - Supplies needed and other operating costs - How to research and set prices, when applicable Small class sizes ensure plenty of time to discuss each student's situation and interests in particular! Important notes: - This class is NOT about adult careers with photography (real estate photography, etc.), this is about things to do in your community right now, or with photos you already have. - We will cover the general idea that you will need business license(s) and to pay taxes, but of course you will need to defer to professionals and regulations in your country, state, and/or city for more information.
