Making Friends Is a Work of Art
Art is the perfect tool for bringing people together regardless of where they live. Creating and sharing art is a way to find common interests and make new friends. In this seven week course, students will master the "art" of friendship.
Class Experience
Think about this quote by C.S. Lewis, “Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.” In this seven week course, students will explore art and friendship by creating and sharing unique art projects. This is a beginner level art class. Students will have a separate art supply list for each class, but many of the supplies will be used in multiple projects.
- Students will engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on a variety of topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly.
- Students will make strategic use of visual artwork to express information and enhance understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them.
