This interactive course is designed for learners who want to bring their Spanish skills to life. The class focuses on teaching common idioms, such as “estar en las nubes” (to daydream), and conversational phrases used in everyday Spanish. Through interactive lessons, learners will practice role-playing and participate in creative activities. They will also explore the cultural context of expressions to understand how and when to use them naturally. Whether preparing for a trip or aiming to improve conversational confidence, this course offers a fun and practical way for learners to make their Spanish conversations more authentic and engaging. Distribution of topics by week: Week of February 16 – Greetings and Everyday Expressions Learners will practice natural ways to greet others, start a conversation, and say goodbye using phrases like ¡Qué gusto verte! and Nos vemos pronto. Week of February 23 – Idioms About Emotions This lesson focuses on expressions related to feelings, such as estar en las nubes (to be daydreaming) and ponerse las pilas (to get energized). Week of March 1 – Talking About the Weather Naturally Beyond hace calor, learners will explore real conversational phrases like ¡Qué calor tan sofocante! to talk about the weather in everyday Spanish. Week of March 8 – Food and Dining Phrases From ordering at a restaurant to describing food, learners will use idioms such as ser pan comido (to be a piece of cake) and tener hambre de lobo (to be starving). Week of March 15 – Making Plans with Friends This lesson covers inviting someone out, accepting or declining plans, and expressing excitement using phrases like ¿Qué te parece si...? and Me encantaría, pero no puedo. Week of March 22 – Expressions for Daily Routines Learners will describe their morning and evening routines with natural expressions like madrugar (to wake up early) and echarse una siesta (to take a nap). Week of March 29 – Talking About Likes and Dislikes This lesson introduces ways to express personal preferences naturally, including me cae bien/mal (I like/dislike someone) and estar loco por algo (to be crazy about something). Week of April 5 – Shopping and Money-Related Expressions Learners will practice key phrases for shopping and handling money, such as cuesta un ojo de la cara (it costs an arm and a leg) and dar el vuelto (to give change). Week of April 12 – Travel and Transportation Talk From asking for directions to navigating public transport, learners will master phrases like ¿Cuánto falta para llegar? (How much longer until we arrive?) and estar perdido (to be lost). Week of April 19 – Funny and Playful Idioms The course wraps up with lighthearted expressions used in everyday speech, like tener un humor de perros (to be in a bad mood) and ser el alma de la fiesta (to be the life of the party). Each week includes role-playing, interactive activities, and cultural insights to help learners use these phrases naturally in conversation! 🚀
