Homework
If students decide to sign up for more makeup classes after their first one, I will assign them to practice the look we did previously outside of class and share pictures of their work with me. I may also ask them to research makeup looks or cosplay looks for future projects in order for them to be prepaired for the next session.

Class Experience

In this class, students get to learn from a professional makeup artist with many years of experience in Beauty Makeup, Special FX, and Cosplay Makeup! They can learn on their own or with friends or siblings.

In each Coaching session, Students get to:
Ask questions about makeup - tips, tricks, makeup trends, how to create winning cosplay looks, etc.

Learn techniques, such as how to do winged eyeliner and contour their makeup, or create realistic wounds.

Create entire makeup looks they can recreate for Prom, Conventions, or school plays.

Learn about proper skincare, the best products for long-lasting, beautiful looks, and where to find them.

Students get a very personalized lesson each time as I listen to their interests and help them achieve their goals while helping them have fun and feel seen!

If students find they want to learn in a multi-student class, they can join one or more of my other classes, including the "Special FX, Theater, and Cosplay Makeup Club!"
See Class Supply List for Makeup Supplies needed for this class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn one on one how to create a variety of makeup looks for film, theater, cosplay, special fx, etc. Students will get to work with me on makeup designs they are specifically interested in learning and will get to learn at their own pace and comfort level of interaction.

Parental Guidance
This class is aimed at students who desire a more personal learning experience, either due to shyness or learning differences such as aspergers, ADHD, etc. I grew up learning with dyslexia, so it is very important to me to allow students to learn in a way that suits their individual needs. Before the start of class, email me and let me know what your student is interested in learning and we will put that together. I will advise you on materials they need and where to find them. This class might require students to use liquid latex and other special fx makeup materials if that is an area they are interested in receiving makeup coaching. If they have a latex allergy, please let me know so I can share with you alternative options! Also, for special fx looks based on gore or some creatures, they will be creating or using fake blood and creating fake wounds. However, everything is fake, safe, non-toxic, and I will not require young ones to use examples of real wounds to reference for their projects.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an actor, makeup artist, and director working in Atlanta, GA, and in Alabama. I have taught kids and adults makeup for over four years, as well as creating makeup looks for film, theater, and cosplay events. I have a degree in musical theater from the University of Mobile Alabama School of the arts. I am dyslexic and ADD and find that the arts allows me to help others like myself and turn those differences into a creative superpower! When not teaching, I am creating my own makeup designs and costumes, which you can view on my Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/leahcj_13/ , developing film and theater projects, and pursuing my love of acting and music.
