In this one-time class, learners will learn strategies to write their own speech.

Speeches give us a way to express our experiences and opinions. They allow us to persuade an audience in regards to a stance they should take, or they let us give advice or guidance on how to handle different situations in life. The great part about speechmaking is that everyone has something meaningful to say that is worthy of a speech. As a former participant in high school do the Speech and Debate team, speechmaking is a skill that is close to my heart. I earned my BA in English from Washington University, and two Masters degrees in the Education field from Brown University and The George Washington University. I have taught language arts to learners in K-12 for over a decade in non-formal settings such as afterschool tutoring and weekend enrichment programs. In Hillsborough County, Florida, I was nominated at the SERVE Tutor of the year in 2012. I have also published poetry, magazine articles, and academic book chapters.
