Class Experience

Set goals for 2023 and put your success in visual terms! In this one-time class, learners will create a digital vision board using Google Slides. Vision boards are visual representations of goals and are an effective way to set goals and refer to them throughout a period of time. All learners are welcome, including those that are neurodivergent.
We start the class with introductions (including pronouns) and an icebreaker so that the students will feel comfortable. Then we will develop goals for the year, using a goal planner on Google Slides. These goals can be related to education, jobs, health and wellness, relationships, mood, recreation, or any other area that is important to your learner. These goals will be the basis of the images and phrases we choose for our vision boards. The second part of the class will be using Google Slides to create a digital vision board. Once the class is complete, students may print their vision boards at home and display them for inspiration throughout the year.
For this class my teaching style will be that of the Facilitator; I will take a student-centred approach. Learners will share their goals with others in the group for inspiration.
There is no required experience or previous knowledge required for this class.

I have helped students create vision boards for over 10 years and I am currently teaching an eLearning course in Learning Strategies for high school students, where we create vision boards.
I am a certified English and Special Education teacher (in Ontario, Canada) with 17+ years of experience in the field. I have completed Special Education Part One, Part Two, and Specialist, and last summer I took an additional course in teaching students with Autism.
