Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
2 lessons//2 Weeks
ย Week 1
Lesson 1
Find Space For Your Egyptian Room
1. Ask permission from your parents or caretakers to change your room or any other space in your home. 2. What places besides bedrooms can you "Egytomize?" 3. Decide how you'll use your Egyptian room - just for show, as a getaway, a place for friends. 3. Find Egyptian-style drapes, wallpaper and tapestries.
ย Week 2
Lesson 2
Fill Your Space!
1. Where you can find reasonably priced Egyptian-style statuettes from museum shops and online (but you don't have to buy anything.) 2. How you can make things yourself from old tables and trunks and similar finds in antique shops. 3. How you don't need objects from Egypt to make them look Egyptian. 4. Why you shouldn't pay for anything labeled as authentic ancient Egyptian objects.
Students will:
1. Become aware of how creative they can be when it comes to
   designing their ancient Egyptian spaces.
2. Learn how the average Egyptian (not royalty) lived with simple
furnishings that still showed off imaginative thinking
3. Find out how you can actually use the items you find - like baskets to
store their clothes in just as the ancient Egyptians did.
4. Learn to distinguish worthwhile items from mere Egyptomania nick-
    knacks.
I hold a Diploma in Egyptology from Oxford College in England and a Certificate of Museum Studies from Harvard University. Iโ€™ve been to Egypt three times on personalized, educational tours.

I've been captivated by ancient Egypt since I was 10 years old. And I feel it's my destiny to share my enthusiasm for and expertise on this beautiful and brilliant 5000-year-old civilization with all of you. I hope to see you soon in this class. I think you'll agree that The Egyptian Room is an attractive, fun and inspiring place to learn. And, please, if you like, call me Ms. Sennuwy - my chosen ancient Egyptian name.
