In this 7-week hands-on class, participants will explore the world of rhythm, sound, and creativity using everyday kitchen items like pots, pans, spoons, and water bottles.

A 7-week class making music using everyday kitchen items!

Lesson 1: Intro/Body Percussion/Hands Hands/Bottles and Spoons
•	TA (Teaching Artist) will introduce learners to making original rhythms using hands, arms, elbow, shoulders, chest, belly.  
•	Learners will use "body percussion" to play rhythms derived from their names. 
•	TA will guide learners to play the “Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb” rhythm at different tempos and dynamics.
•	Learners will discover various tones when played on metal and plastic water bottles. 
•	Introduction to spoon play.


Intro/Body Percussion/Hands Hands/Bottles and Spoons

•	Warm up body percussion: hands, arms, elbow, shoulders, chest, belly.
•	Use “body percussion” to play rhythm derived from names.  TA “Let’s clap how many syllables in your names.”  “How many syllables?”
•	Students will take turns playing their name.  Students will also play the patterns to the other student’s name.  
•	“Hands, Hands” rhythm review.  Play rhythm on water bottle.
•	Spoon play, play rhythm derived from names on spoons.
