Description

Class Experience

Sensory Cooking (no oven or heat required):
- Students will learn how to use measuring cups and spoons, how to follow an ingredients list, and explore their creative side by adding their own touch to learn how to make sensory play items!

Why is sensory play important?
- Learners grow through exploration, problem solving, fine and gross motor skills. Children learn through exploring all 5 senses through this class.

Creativity:
- Students will use the Flipgrid platform to answer prompts, share their creations, and connect with other students all through quick video messages. This is the time for students to show off their creativity.
A supply list will vary each week, but most supplies are common house hold items. All of the following items will be used at some point, but we will not need every item for every week.

Supplies needed weekly:
- A bowl
- Measuring cups/spoons
- A mixing spoon
- A space to create

Supplies to keep on hand:
- Flour
- Cream of tartar
- Water
- Salt
- Baby oil
- Corn starch
- Baking Soda
- Glue
- Saline solution
- Food coloring
- Glitter (optional)
- Peppermint (optional)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
1. FlipGrid:
- We will use the platform Flipgrid as a way to do weekly checkins and connect with other classmates through video messages. This age appropriate resource is private and will only be viewed by approved students in the classroom and myself. I will be monitoring students to make sure they keep all video responses appropriate and on task. Flipgrid is available on most application stores and can be accessed on the web as well.
- Learn more about Flipgrid here: youtube.com/watch?v=kR1FxImNPSs

2. YouTube:
- We will also be using YouTube as way to view my prerecorded videos. Students will watch these videos and follow to create sensory items. These videos are set to private and can only be accessed using the provided link.
