Description

Class Experience

Students will improve their understanding of adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators while manipulating Play-Doh.
I am offering this class because, through my years of teaching math to students with learning disabilities, I have found fractions are a difficult concept. Students require more than to just add and subtract fractions with paper and a pencil to fully understand the concept. By seeing and manipulating the fractions themselves, they will be able to learn and retain the information easier.
-print hand out (uploaded day before class begins) -pencil -Play-Doh -Play-Doh or cookie cutters -something safe to cut Play-Doh with such as a Play-Doh knife
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of the course learners will take an online quiz using paper, pencil, and Play-Doh to assess their knowledge.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
