Every child/teen is different. I am here to guide and support learners in Social Studies (history) and English Language Arts. I am the ideal tutor for those learners seeking any of the following: 1. Writing for social studies help, 2. Concept reinforcement- drilling and additional explanations, 3. Special project help, 4. Academic coaching- guidance and checking in on study plans, note taking and organizations, 5. Deeper dives- for assigned or self-guided research projects for academic portfolios, 6. Enrichment. Social studies can be challenging because it requires students to apply skills and knowledge from every subject to understand what people have done and are doing. It is quantitative and qualitative, creative and straight forward, fun and hard work. Bachelor of Arts in History from Hampton University in 1995.
Graduate work- M.A. ABT in U.S. History from Southern Methodist University 1998.
I currently teach AP African American Studies and civics course on Outschool and tutor AP US History, US History, AP World History, middle school US History in various settings.
I have taught US History, World History and African American History in-person (high school and college), and currently focus my efforts on researching various topics, supporting young learners hosting meet up at museums and historical sites throughout the U.S. Reviews
