Class Experience
This course is scheduled in flex time for your convenience. Flex class means there will be no live meetings. The work is asynchronous and all activities will take place in the classroom portal not in zoom. The course is great for busy families. The student may access the materials at any time during the course. The teacher will answer emails within 24 hours. Each week I will post class session videos and links to print outs for application when applicable. After watching the videos for class, the students will participate by doing activities for the week. Activities include submitting videos or pics of completed projects and discussion in the portal. The teacher will provide feedback to the students individually and as a whole class. Time Frame for the Week: Mondays - Teacher will post each video needed for the week. Tuesdays-Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any projects/ activities and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - Teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. In Class 1, Students will start with gathering ingredients needed to make a recipe for dog or cat treats. Students will watch a video and follow along as they make their own dog or cat treats. Students will be instructed to measure, pour, stir, preheat the oven, cut out shapes with cookie cutters, and clean their cooking area. Students will be required to take pictures of their baked treats and upload them into the classroom. Students will be asked to type into the discussion thread to answer questions such as, "Why is measuring important? What prior knowledge did you need to complete this task? What steps are involved in proper kitchen clean up?" In Class 2, students will gather materials prior to class for making a dog or cat toy. Teacher will shows a demonstration video, demonstrate it herself, and students have a chance to follow the steps to make a cat or dog toy. Students will be asked to upload the samples of work to the classroom. Students will be asked to type into the discussion thread to answer the question, "How did you create the toy? Share your steps, including preparation and assembly. Do you think your pet appreciated the hard work you did to make him/her a toy?" Class 3- Students will watch a video of the teacher explaining proper care for cats and dogs. She will discuss how animals need food, shelter, grooming, and attention. Students will be asked to type into the discussion thread to answer the question, "How do you care for your pet? What are some ways you show responsibility when you take care of a pet? Why is it important to spend time with your pet?" The teacher will provide a worksheet with review questions from the video and students will upload their submissions. Class 4- The teacher will show a video to review what has been learned in classes 1-3. Students will be given a quiz on what they've learned, which they will be asked to submit to the classroom. The discussion will include questions, such as, "What was your favorite part of class? How will you practice the pet care tips you learned and will you make treats for your pet again in the future? Why/ why not?"
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to gather materials, follow step by step instructions, measure ingredients, take care of pets, and learn how to apply information to their daily lives.

Supply List
Students will be given a list of ingredients needed and supplies needed in the week 1 discussion, prior to the start of class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
