Class Experience
Practice words and expressions in Italian while making chocolate chip cookies from scratch! First, we will introduce ourselves, and share tips on being safe in the kitchen. While following step-by-step instructions for the recipe, Vero will share favorite foods, food-related expressions, and kitchen vocabulary in English and Italian. Teaching Artist Vero is a professional artist specializing in illustration, embroidery, video installation, and baking! Vero has worked for various contemporary organizations including the Art and Architecture Venice Biennale. She has been an interactive performer and teaching artist with Creative Action, teaching social and emotional learning skills through the arts, for over 5 years. Vero believes in the power of creativity as a tool to teach deep topics that help kids develop awareness towards themselves and their surroundings.
TOOLS: - Two bowls (1 bigger, one smaller) - whisk - teaspoon and tablespoon - spatula or wooden spoon - measuring cups: 1 cup, ½ cup, ⅓ cup, ¼ cup 1 Tbs, 1 tsp, ½ tsp, ¼ tsp - parchment paper - baking pan - oven INGREDIENTS: - 1 1/4 cups almond flour - 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate - 1/2 cup shredded coconut - 1/2 tsp baking powder - 1/4 tsp salt - 1/3 cup brown sugar - 1 egg - 3 Tbsp coconut oil - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
It is essential that when the lesson starts students are ready with all the tools and ingredients. Parents may wish to assist their learners with preparation prior to the beginning of class.
