My learners will be engaged in hands-on learning activities and get to interact with myself and each other in every class meeting. The structure of this class is a combination of teacher guided step-by-step instruction, demonstration, independent practice and interacting with each other through discussion. The classroom space is inclusive, one in which each student will feel safe, understood, respected and valued. *Siblings and/or co-learners must be enrolled to attend and participate...
This class is taught in English.
This class is for aspiring artists who aren't afraid of getting a little messy and to express themselves creatively through art making. Students will create original works of art that reflect their feelings and unique individuality. Overall, participating in this class series, students will have improved their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, enhanced focus, visual and spatial relationship skills and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Creating original art builds confidence, nurtures innate creativity and spark right-brain activity, thus enhancing academic performance. All wonderful outcomes from a simple single art class or classes with me!
I am offering this class series because I love color in all of it's forms and introducing my students to the art of watercolors brings me much joy. I love creating something beautiful that didn’t exist ever before! I have been making art since I was three-years old and grew up in a home environment where creativity was a way of life. I’ve always been creative and interested in colors, textures, textiles, fashion design and traveling the globe appreciating diverse cultures. I am inspired by nature, the cosmos and color most of all! To me, making art, expressing myself creatively and teaching others to do that, are as natural as breathing. Kids of all ages love my inspired, relaxed and energetic style of teaching art. I have been teaching art in formal settings for over 15 years. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet and create art together.
Gather up all of the art materials as listed in the Materials section. Plan ahead in time to procure any art supply purchases. VERY Important ***To be completed Before camp begins.*** Gather Collage Materials: Look around your home and collect any decorative paper, magazines, fabric swatches, construction paper, wax paper, newspapers, book illustrations, printed images from the internet, wrapping paper, etc. **From those, cut or tear out a variety of shapes, colors, and most importantly, as you are selecting them, have a specific COLOR scheme (grouping) in mind. The size of these pieces can be about the size of the palm of your hand- have about 10 pieces. Save these items in a folder/zip-lock bag ready to use in our first day of camp.
1 file available upon enrollmentWELCOME! Art Supplies List: PAINTS: + Watercolor Paints- (set comes with a palette) OR Acrylic Paints + palette or paper plate HEAVY-WEIGHT PAPER OR CANVAS BOARD OR CANVAS: + Any small-medium size art surface (9X12 inches is great) If you plan to use watercolors: I highly suggest having watercolor paper, heavy-weight paper, as it is designed to hold water and paint and will not buckle or warp. Watercolor paper is 140lb weight paper. An alternate if you have it, is Bristol paper, it is generally 100lb, that is sufficient, but the heavier the paper, the better for painting in watercolors. If you plan to use acrylic paints: a thick surface like canvas board or even stretched canvas or acrylic paints BRUSHES: + A variety of paint brushes sizes and shapes MISC: + Paste stick OR glue, scissors + Collage materials (colored papers, magazine cut-outs etc) + Water container - can be an up-cycled yogurt container, jar, etc. + paper towels- several sheets + sharpened pencil/eraser + Some Q-tips (10) OPTIONAL: + Any Dry colors of any type: colored pencils, crayons, gel pens, paint pens, markers, etc + newspaper or plastic table cloth to cover your work area, table top. + Apron (can be a re-purposed cooking apron) + Mod Podge Adhesive and foam brush + Blue painters tape OR washi tape A note to students and parents: Please be ready to start with all of your art supplies and have your work area set up near you; we will be starting promptly at the scheduled class time each day of camp. Thank you!
