In this one time class students will find out what makes up the dirt near their home!  Prior to meeting, students will gather a dirt sample. Then, in our class, We will watch as our samples naturally separate. As we shake and separate our dirt, we'll learn about soil bacteria, health, and micro organism. We'll talk about soil health, and examine soils importance to life on earth. We'll talk about how dirt forms and what affects it's make up. 

At the end of our class, students will learn to use a simple soil chart, and will be able to identify what is in the dirt near their home. We'll discuss and compare our jars, seeing the major differences that can occur in dirt around the world!
