Children can make their own nature journals using recycled papers, and other papers on hand. They can choose to create little pockets inside their journals to collect natural items and use the enclosed pages to draw their thoughts, feelings and observations. Simple materials needed: scissors, hole-puncher, glue-stick, ribbons, tape and crayons/markers as well as a used paper grocery bag and other papers you might have to use. This is a wonderful way to encourage explorations in nature, to facilitate curiosity about their natural world around them and to build upon literacy skills.
