Description

Class Experience

• Learners will demonstrate comprehension by summarizing a story or book.
• Learners will understand different shot types.
• Learners will use a storyboard to plan a sequence.
I have taught 3rd and 4th grade as a general and special education teacher and have professional filmmaking and video-editing experience.
No homework will be assigned. If you don't finish your movie trailer during class time, no problem - you can always take your time and complete it later. And if you want some feedback on your finished project, send it my way and I'd be happy to give you some additional tips and tricks.
A handout will be provided on the day of the class and will need to be printed before class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Informal assessment will take place for the summarizing portion.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners will need to use the iMovie app or another video editing app. iMovie is only available on Apple products, if your child needs to use a different app, please let me know ahead of time and I can suggest one.

I can provide images for many of the books and learners may do their own search but some learners may want to shoot video too. I will provide links to image search engines that are safe for children.

While I encourage that, there won't be time for me to guide learners through filming. They can however, film after the class and send me their finished projects if they want feedback.
