30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
At the very beginning of class, I will greet students, cover classroom rules for the online classroom, being respectful in class and also make sure everyone understands how to be safe with the glue gun, and plug in the glue guns as well. 1. We will start class with introductions: saying our names and telling one thing we like about fairies (if the student wants to share and is comfortable sharing on this topic). 2. Depending on the group, we may discuss if we think fairies are real or pretend. We will share our opinions without judgement. I will always ask, "What do you think?" 3. If needed, I will explain that some cultures believed that fairies were real, and some people still do. I will also state that it is really fun to pretend too. 4. We will look at our supplies, see if everyone is ready, and that glue guns are plugged in. Students should be confident and safe in using a low temp glue gun for this class. If not, parents should be available to help. 5. Students will watch me demonstrate each step and I will help them as needed during class. Once the basic chair is assembled, students may decorate it creatively. During class, we can share ideas and build off of the ideas of others. 6. We will talk about where our finished chairs will go, or what we could do with them. 7. If time at the end of class and as we are finishing, we will look at a few /Fairy Name" charts and choose what we like the best.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to use items to make something creative, while also following directions. Students will also learn how to verbalize what they are doing, ask questions, compliment others and increase their social skills. Students will also increase their imagination and learn a little about the perspective of others.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Janie Lundstrom, and I live with my husband, Brad, and my cat, Marvin. I have lived in Wisconson all of my life! I am certified to teach students PreK through 8th grade. I also have a Masters Degree in Education. I have been teaching children for about 30 years now in a variety of settings. I have taught in day care, Head Start, preschool in a public school (my current full time job), and most recently in the online classroom (students aged 4 to 14 years old). I also taught a college level class on curriculum and assessment in early childhood for the 2018-2019 school year which I also found to be rewarding.
I believe that when students are engaged and having fun, they will learn! I know that every child can learn and it is my job to support the learning. I provide opportunities for growth, while building a mutual relationship of respect with each student. Each child is unique and will have their own ideas and responses, and that is what makes teaching so rewarding to me! I strive to create an engaging, caring, environment that has room for some humor too!
My first class for Outschool is creating a fancy fairy chair! I have taught first through third graders fairy garden classes during summer school sessions at my public school, and I really love it! I will soon be creating more fairy garden accessory making classes, as well as teaching preschool level group times with engaging stories and activities! I look forward to creating even more classes that your child may be interested in taking.
I have one grown son, and two adorable granddaughters (ages 2 and 7 months)! I spend as much time with them as I can, as well as visiting other family in the area. I enjoy walking, reading, music, arts and crafts, animals, all kinds of movies, baking, motorcycling, and crocheting. I also love to try new things! I took ballet in my 20's, started weight lifting in my 20's and 30's, tried belly dancing in my 40's and now it's yoga/walking in my 50's! Who knows what the 60's will bring!
I look forward to meeting your child and also joining your child on their journey of learning!
