Class Experience

In this class, I will introduce the 5 Why problem-solving technique. I will begin the PowerPoint video by explaining what the technique is. Then, I will share a few scenarios to show where and how the technique can be applied. I will also ask students to share a problem (real or fictional) and demonstrate how to use the drill-down technique to solve the problem. I will discuss small and big problems and how this technique can be applied.

I will use examples- some of my own, and some well-known disasters from history, like the Halifax Explosion, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, Hurricane Katrina, and Chernobyl.

There are short videos throughout the class to help demonstrate the technique, show how it is used, and explain the origin of the disaster- the root cause.

The lecture is delivered through Zoom video and PowerPoint; chat and voice are available
