Class Experience

Students will overcome any fear they have of drawing as "Maison the Dot" introduces them to the origins of a line; the first dot! They will follow Maison as she crafts her first line which will become a shape and then a house. Students will then choose a name for their own dot to personify and I will guide them to create a scribble garden. The garden will literally allow the children to scribble across their paper. The scribble will leave enclosed spaces that the children can then fill in with color. The colored spaces alone will be the finished garden for some while others may want to add flowers growing from the spaces. The students will also learn that "maison" is the french word for "home!"

I teach kids yoga, art, and design classes, as well as phonics utilizing storytelling and real life experience. Learning is a playground for innovation and critical thinking and I encourage students to harness this while embracing kindness and mindfulness.

I worked in corporate fashion design for over three years as a design assistant for Quiksilver, Roxy Swim and contributed to the initial design vision for each season, creating technical packages throughout the season for oversea production. From that experience I desired more hands on art and developed my own DIY recycled fashion and art project. You can check out my first publication in Green Craft Magazine, "Rainbow Patchwork Dresses," volume 5, issue 1, Spring 2014. I started teaching as an assistant at the Natural Learning School in Memphis, TN. I have traveled a lot and taught as a substitute teacher in Oahu, HI. I also have experience as a VIP kid teacher, a public school substitute teacher in New Mexico, and a homeschooling mother to my eight year old!

I am passionate about Natural Health, Integrative Medicine, and gardening and I love learning about medicinal herbs and ancient Chinese Medicine. I am a certified "Kidding Around Yoga" Teacher and certified in first degree Reiki. I have additional training in "Teaching the Neuroscience of Yoga" and am currently enrolled in a 200 hour Hatha/Vinyasa yoga program and a 20 hour Yin Yoga program to become certified to teach adults. I incorporate this passion into my art and make good health a consideration in any venture.

I love traveling, being outdoors, and fitness. I have been jogging routinely since I was 19 years old. I am a vegetarian and love camping, music circles, reading and poetry, learning more guitar and French and light-hearted fun!
