A basic understanding of how to maintain a checking account is a fundamental money skill. Don't get left behind because cash slipped through your fingers. Join other students to learn... -how to use a check register to record transactions -how to write a check, use a debit card, use an ATM card -how to prevent "bouncing" a check Instead of offering a class consisting of lectures and quizzes, I believe classes should be student-centered. Students will learn through the use of instruction, discussions, simulations, and games. Students will interact with other learners and have a hands-on approach to learning. In this class, students will practice writing a check and recording transactions in a check register. Join me for a similar three-day course that will go in more detail including... -the differences between a bank and a credit union -the concepts of savings and checking accounts -how to open accounts -the differences between an ATM and a debit card -how to make deposits, transfers, and withdrawals -how to reconcile a monthly bank statement "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn."

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents and Students!
I have been educating lifelong learners for over 19 years! I’ve taught middle and high school students various business classes including budgeting, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, keyboarding, career and college readiness, economics, banking, computer applications, and many more. I worked in various roles in the banking industry for over 13 years. In addition to teaching with Outschool, I work as a substitute teacher for grades k-12. I have taught over 2,100 online English classes to foreign students ages 3-14.
My philosophy of education is that all students are unique. I make the content relevant to the students’ lives. Classes include a lot of interaction and discussion. Students have an opportunity to share their opinions and ideas. I incorporate hands-on activities, cooperative learning, and individual work that will engage and activate students learning as they are having fun in the classroom.
I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degrees in Business Education from Georgia Southern University. I completed courses of study in Principles of Banking, as well as Negotiable Instruments. I earned my TESOL certificate from International Open University.
My interests include spending time with my husband, three children, their spouses, and five grandchildren, as well as reading, making jewelry, crocheting, and traveling. My family tells me I ask a lot of questions. I ask a lot of questions to learn. I want your child to ask a lot of questions too!
Please do not hesitate to ask me questions. I am always open to new class ideas and special requests. I am excited to work with you and your child to help them become lifelong learners!
