Class Experience

This is a class that meets live, one time, and is from my Magical Wonders series. This is #2 in the series which will cover Mermaids, Mer-men, and Mer-Babies (Water Babies) known collectively as "Merfolk." This class delves into the magical world of these mythical sea creatures to explore their history and surrounding mystique within literature and folklore. We will explore these imaginary creatures from early literature to more modern times. We will also follow how these mythical creatures changed over time as we also explore how various cultures view "Merfolk."

SPECIAL NOTE: If you attended my "Camp Cute" this class is a repeat of day 1 of that camp.

I have had a life long love of history especially folklore. I have conducted years of research in children's literature. In fact, I have hundreds of vintage children's out of print books in which to cultivate topics that have been long forgotten. As an educator by trade, I have found that young people need to be exposed to many types of subjects. With this in mind, I have developed this class to show students fascinating areas of study they may never have been exposed to before.

Note: While, this is a secular class, Greek mythology will be used as far as names and descriptions of various gods associated with this topic.

Class Rules:
1. Please see that your student is in a quiet area with no background noise. This will enable the student to interact with the class. If the student has too much background noise, they will need to stay on "mute" so as not to impede on other's class experiences. The teacher will place the student on "mute" if needed.
2. Also, no virtual backgrounds or filters are allowed on screen as they cause distractions.
3. Students will not use the annotation/drawing/text tools without permission.
4. Students must use the name they signed up with and are not to change their screen name during class.
5. Students may turn off their video at any time except at the beginning of the class for security reasons.
6. Participation in the discussion and activities is optional.

I want each student to have the best experience and these rules are based on my experience and issues that have come up in the past. Thank you for your understanding.

Class Time: Please allow an additional time of 10 minutes after class in case the class runs long.

Please join me for a look at these magical wonders.
