Join us for a week-long magical summer camp! We will do arts, crafts, and an escape room! Feel free to dress up! Day 1 Magical creatures We will introduce ourselves and then draw a magical creature (students can vote on which magical creature we do). If time allows we might do more than one. Supplies needed: Paper Pencil Eraser OR tablet, stylus, and preferred software Recommended: something to color with such as colored pencils, markers, or crayons Day 2 Craft Day We will make our own magic wands! Supplies needed: stick (wild, from nature) OR a chopstick model magic clay OR some type of airdry clay OR playdough OR homemade salt dough paint paintbrushes cup of water paper towels Optional: sandpaper or nail file (particularly if you went with the stick from nature) pipe cleaners (chenille stems) glitter, sparkles, or anything else you want to add to make your wand extra fancy *wear a smock or clothes that can get dirty during this class* Day 3 Magic Escape Room I will lead students in a magical escape room. Each student will get a chance at various puzzles and I will be there to offer clues if someone gets stuck. Escape rooms are great at encouraging critical thinking and logic skills. They promote teamwork and thinking outside of the box. ***Boarwarts flex and this week long camp**** If you like magical activities but this does not fit your schedule. Check out my boarwarts class. https://outschool.com/classes/boarwarts-academy-for-witches-and-wizards-flex-1GpaK0XX#usnGoax51D There is some overlap with the making of the wands but the escape rooms are totally different. If you have taken my Boarwarts class and are interested in this one for the drawing and the escape room let me know and I will refund you $7 since you have already made a wand in my Boarwarts class. If you are looking for a one-time class you could also try my Break Out of Boarwarts class. https://outschool.com/classes/break-out-of-boarwarts-the-magic-school-escape-room-LOJxZxWB#usnGoax51D

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of North Texas
Hello!
I taught art in traditional public schools for 6 years in Texas and started teaching on Outschool in 2021.
I would say my specialty here on outschool is escape rooms.
I love teaching my passions and believe in teaching the whole child. That is why I love throwing in other tidbits of knowledge while working on a project. It also means if you signed up for an escape room with me, it might be under the category of "math" but I can guarantee you will be challenged at a lot more than just math. I like to challenge students to think outside of the box and come up with unique solutions to creative problems.
I also have taught art classes through Michaels Arts and Crafts stores. My favorite moment was when a young lady told me they had a closer store to them, but they drove further to me because, with me, she "actually learned stuff".
Fun and Personal: I love to create and have fun. In my free time, I love to play both board and video games. I am a huge Disney nerd, and represent the Hufflepuff house with pride. I have a sweet seven-year-old daughter and three cats at home.
Currently my personal life is jam packed so I am currently only offering self paced classes.
