Practice intermediate to advanced Spanish and magic in this ongoing Spanish-speaking modded Minecraft: Java Edition class! Learners will play a modded version of the game that adds different types of magic. Learners will mainly play in survival mode and some weeks we may use creative mode for building certain things. The focus of each week's class will be determined by the events that happen inside the game. Students will play on my own private server that I open a few minutes before class and I close at the end of class. 

This class is for students who have an intermediate to advanced level of Spanish and for students who are native Spanish speakers.  We will speak in Spanish during most of the class and will use English sometimes to refer to some spells and some blocks in the game. I ask that learners set their Minecraft game to Spanish as a way to create a more immersive environment. 

Parents, after enrolling your learner, please view the Outschool classroom for the installation guide and the modpack. The  installation guide will include links to the different mods used in case you would like to check them out or if your learner is interested in playing around with some of them after class in their own single-player world. Please make sure your learner has the mods installed and is able to run the game prior to class. If you run into technical issues, please message me ahead of time so that I am able to assist you before class time. I will not be able to assist with installation-related problems during class, because it takes away valuable speaking time from other learners.  

Technical Requirements
-a purchased version of Minecraft: Java Edition (please see the parental guidance section for more information)
-the program CurseForge (Please see the parental guidance section for more information)
-able to be connected to the game and Zoom at the same time (Some learners can do this on the same computer, some learners may need two devices.) 

For the months of September, October, November, and December 2024, we are playing survival mode.

My teaching style is conversational. I usually ask learners about what they are doing inside the game and we sometimes make class decisions about what would be best to do in certain in-game situautions.
