Description
Class Experience
Students will have the opportunity to engage in group discussions weekly. Through these discussions we will practice our comprehension skills, spelling and vocabulary, writing and critical thinking skills. This course will allow students to have weekly discussions with the teacher and peers about their readings and thoughts on the weekly readings.
Learners will be required to read two to three chapters each week while completing the handouts for class discussion.
Learners will need to have a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The teacher will provide handouts for all assignments in printable or digital forms each week.
There is an informal chapter assessments throughout the course to help students with understanding the story. We will complete these in class together through discussion. Students will not be informed of the assessment questions and will just flow in class conversation. Informal feedback will be provided bi weekly on students engagement and participation.
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
The Harry Potter series can embody your learners imagination around the magical world, but there are bad guys and throughout the series there are more intense and dark matters. Parents, please review Harry Potter before allowing your learners to read independently.
Students must have their own hard or digital copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone book.
