35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time class, we will make some Easy and Delicious Almost Homemade Mickey Pretzels! Unlike traditional pretzel recipes with yeast, proofing time, and boiling in water before baking. These are an easy and quick snack any child can make! This is a great activity to practice gross and fine motor skills. We will be rolling pizza dough in our hands and shaping into mickey shaped pretzels, or a traditional shape. During class we will start with a short introduction of all learners, review materials and ingredients, then dive into the recipe. We will assemble and prep pretzels for baking, put in oven, and pretzels will be complete after class! I enjoy questions and students sharing during class, so this will not be an all mute class. The young chefs will be cracking eggs, using a pastry brush to spread on pretzels, and shaping dough in this class. No required experience or knowledge is required but agile hands and fingers are helpful for assembly of pretzels. Allergen warning**this class uses recipes that contain wheat, soy, eggs, etc Parental Guidance is suggested as you will need to put the pans of pretzels into the oven to cook. We will also be using pizza cutters or butter knives in class.
Other Details

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Mary and I'm a professionally trained chef with experience in restaurants, country clubs, catering, and institutional cooking. I love to train young chefs in the "hows" and "whys" of cooking so every meal will be delicious! I thoroughly believe in hand on instruction, for cooking there is no other way. There is a ton of math, science, and creativity involved in cooking, so I try to feature those elements as well whenever I can.
My sister is a teacher and I have learned a lot of good tips and tricks for introducing a love of literacy to young children! I enjoy reading aloud to my family and like to offer classes that involve reading and snacking!
I enjoy having inquisitive learners in my classes, you will not find a class that's all PowerPoint or an all mute class from me. I love for students to ask questions, be curious, and make comments. I love to eat, travel, read, laugh, and spend time with my kids and family. I also am passionate about arts and crafts and love to get messy once in a while with glitter!
If you have a child that's passionate about culinary arts please message me about one-on-one cooking lessons and/or sessions. I can also do private birthday parties where we can cook or bake together.
