Class Experience
Welcome to our magical messenger class! Students will visit the Owlery and create their own wash cloth owls, along with a secret invisible message for their owl to carry to their wizard friends! The students will discuss what influenced the author of the series to choose an owl, why owls are associated with wisdom and the role of the magical owls in the Harry Potter series. Student will learn basic chemistry vocabulary and understand the scientific principle behind invisible ink
1 file available upon enrollmentFor the owl washcloth (any color) rubber bands or hair tyes ribbon(any color) google eyes (paper cut out eyes can work but will not be as secure or sturdy) For the Secret message (exact measurements will be sent at enrollment) Paper Small paintbrushes and/or cotton swabs Baking soda Rubbing alcohol Turmeric newspaper or other protective paper for workstation plastic bowl (any bowl could be used but the reactor may stain surface) plastic or wooden spoon (any bowl could be used but the reactor may stain surface)
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parent may want to measure out ingredients before hand, if they feel it is appropriate for their child.
