I am an actor, makeup artist, and director working in Atlanta, GA, and in Alabama. I have taught kids and adults makeup for over four years, as well as creating makeup looks for film, theater, and cosplay events. I have a degree in musical theater from the University of Mobile Alabama School of the arts. I am dyslexic and ADD and find that the arts allows me to help others like myself and turn those differences into a creative superpower! When not teaching, I am creating my own makeup designs and costumes, which you can view on my Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/leahcj_13/ , developing film and theater projects, and pursuing my love of acting and music.
Liquid Foundation in the student's skin tone (or as close as you can get) - does not have to be an expensive brand - NYX foundations are good, so are Physician's Formula, Elf, and Revlon. Concealer in their skin tone or a shade lighter - Same as above-you don't have to buy expensive makeup - the above mentioned brands also have great concealers. *Eyeliner (optional) - any color, any brand, pencil or liquid is fine - for young kids, I suggest something in a brown or gray or a fun color as black can be a bit dark and theatrical for young faces. Mascara - Any brand, any color Blush (pick something soft, like a soft pink or coral - some shades of pink can be too dark and not look good on every skin tone) Lipgloss Eyeshadow in pretty, Encanto Colors (Ex: Purples, Turquoise, Pinks, Oranges, Golds, Silvers, Greens, lots of Sparkley Makeup, etc!) Or something more neutral if you prefer! Any additional glitter or fun details the student might want to add to their look! Setting Powder in a translucent or shade complimentary to the child's skin tone. Makeup Brushes - A bigger fluffy brush or powder puff, a foundation brush or foundation sponge, an eyeshadow brush (there are many shapes and sizes of these, so go with one that has a small fluffy brush head like a paint brush - this shape works well for basic looks), and a blush brush (usually an angled looking brush or a small fluffy brush). Makeup wipes Access to a mirror
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some students might have allergies to certain makeup items (this is not something that happens often, but it can be the case). I suggest do a patch test on your child's arm of the foundation, concealer, and primer. You can also find vegan/natural makeup products that work well that contain only natural ingredients and no chemicals. The Pacifica brand is an example of a natural beauty brand.
