Class Experience

During class students will take turns reading the last 1-2 chapters of each book, depending on the class size and time. This will give students practice in developing strong reading and comprehension skills, as well as reading aloud in a class setting with their peers. Patience and respect will be given to any student who struggles with reading and will be encouraged and helped along.
I hold a Masters Degree in Psychology-Child & Adolescent Development where I strongly believe the need for children (and adults) to go on reading adventures which makes learning fun! I also homeschool my daughter (age 12) and understand the importance of learning proper format while still having fun.
Students will read the entire book before class as we will have discussion comprehension questions each week.
Depending on the week that your student attends class will determine which book you need to have. Week of 6/12/22 #1 DINOSAURS BEFORE DARK Week of 6/19/22 #2 THE KNIGHT AT DAWN Week of 6/26/22 #3 MUMMIES IN THE MORNING NO CLASS ON July 3rd Week of 7/10/22 #4 PIRATES PAST NOON Week of 7/17/22 #5 NIGHT OF THE NINJAS Week of 7/24/22 #6 AFTERNOON ON THE AMAZON Week of 7/31/22 #7 SUNSET ON THE SABERTOOTH Week of 8/7/22 #8 MIDNIGHT ON THE MOON Week of 8/14/22 #9 DOLPHINS AT DAYBREAK Week of 8/21/22 #10 GHOST TOWN AT SUNDOWN
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
As there are some topics that some children may not be ready to read about, I encourage parents to read these books as students are encouraged to discuss literary experiences with their parents. I believe in open communication between children and their parents and will always encourage that belief!
