Read with us as the Magic Tree House whisks Jack and his sister Annie away to the prehistoric past! In this self paced class, we will be reading and discussing the Magic Tree House story "Dinosaurs Before Dark."  

There will be a short video each lesson in which Teacher Amanda will read our chapters and explain the activities to go along with the chapters we read through. This class could take about 5 weeks to complete. Feel free to read along with Teacher Amanda if you have the book! There will be comprehension activities for your learner to print and complete after each video. Your learner is encouraged to upload pictures of their completed activities to the classroom page if they would like to. This self paced class provides a great opportunity for learners to practice things like fluency, reading aloud on their own, book discussion in a virtual format, and reading of a chapter book. At the end of the book, your learner will have the chance to complete a story scavenger hunt! 

There will be no live meetings with this class, instead there will be pre-recorded videos of the story that Teacher Amanda will read and share each lesson. Your learner will be able to interact with Teacher Amanda through the text discussion and through sharing photos of their completed activities. Teacher Amanda will respond within 24 hours. Learner sharing can be done by creating the picture on the computer or by taking a picture and sharing the file directly to our classroom page, whichever works!

Teacher Amanda encourages your learner to make sure to be active in discussion and lessons on the classroom page. 

Your learner is not required to purchase the book, but it is highly suggested. Alternatives to purchasing the book may be to borrow it from a friend, check it out from your local library, or possibly find a digital copy or PDF version online that can be accessed and read over the course of the class. We will have reading comprehension activities and the scavenger hunt that will require the use of the book in some format for learner reference and participation, so please ensure that your learner is able to have access to it during the class in some way.
