Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Do you like the Magic School Bus series of books? I love them! Each week I will read a new book and students will have an opportunity to share their favorite part of the story as well as answer critical thinking and comprehension questions about the book. I will also do a simple science experiment related to each book that students can replicate at home.

Because this is a self paced class, we will NOT have live meetings, but we WILL have weekly videos featuring fun and energetic storytimes filled with facts and instruction on different scientific topics. Students also have the opportunity to answer questions about what we learn plus watch and try a cool and simple science experiment related to each book.

When reading the book, I like to incorporate movement and interaction to keep the students engaged. For example, on the field trip, we buckle our seat belts and help drive the school bus. We might put on our pretend space suits for a field trip to the moon or clean the mud off ourselves after trudging through the bog. If Ms. Frizzle starts laughing, so do we, and when the students cheer, we jump up and down and celebrate too!

I will respond to your student's comments and answers in the Outschool classroom! Students are encouraged to share their favorite parts of the story with one another!

I can't wait for you to join me on these storytime adventure field trips!
