Class Experience

Hey everyone! I perform magic for thousands of people on Celebrity Cruise Line and Holland America Line.

When I'm not performing, I try to teach a few days each month.

If you would like one of my classes scheduled on a particular date and time that is not listed, please send me a message. Please include your time zone in the message.

*****************************
This is one of five Magic Masterclasses. You can take the classes in any order. You can choose several classes and have a summer magic camp!

You will learn several great magic tricks with cards, a rubber band, and rolled-up paper or aluminum foil.
You will learn what to say and how to perform some amazing tricks.

All the Magic Masterclasses are VERY interactive. I use multiple cameras on my hands so that you can see what I'm doing from different angles. It is the best way to learn magic.

You will learn a simple fake shuffle with a deck of cards. Make sure your camera can point at the table surface so I can see the cards and your hands! I must see you, to help you with the tricks.

You will learn the Mississippi Shuffle, used in a really impressive card trick that happens in the spectator's hands!

You will also learn the Dealing to the Aces Trick, where you find all four aces from the deck. You can watch a short version of it on the Course Description Video. You will learn the longer full trick, that I perform for my audiences.

I'm a big fan of rubber band magic tricks. You will learn a great trick where a rubber band wrapped around four fingers from one hand instantly jumps to the four fingers of your other hand! It's really impressive, and you will love performing this. (For more rubber band magic tricks, see my Amazing Rubber Band Magic Masterclass).

The Ten Count Vanish is a great introductory sleight-of-hand trick, where the students learn to make small objects disappear! We will use two balls of paper or rolled-up aluminum foil. The technique can be applied to many other objects and is an excellent start for any young new magician.

Each segment of the class begins with a performance of the trick about to be taught.

Then, I explain in detail how to perform the trick. The students work at the trick with their camera filming their hands and I give them the proper guidance and make any necessary corrections.

Then I explain all the secret moves and what to say. The students and I work on the moves together. As with all my Magic Masterclasses, you will receive a secret instructional video after the class to help practice and review some of the tricks.

You will also learn the timing, choreography, and psychological principles that fool the mind, not just the eye, of the most critical observer. You'll learn the true secrets of performing these tricks. These tricks require some work, much like a piano lesson. They are not simple self-working tricks.

Each of the students performs the tricks with my guidance. Any changes and adjustments are discussed with each student and we perform the tricks again. Practice makes perfect!

Please watch the Course Description Video for some additional details.

Learning Goals

The students will learn some great tricks to fool their family and friends. Some tricks can be performed right away and some will require additional practice after the class.

Supply List
One deck of cards. (can be missing a few cards, it's okay)
Please pull the four aces and four kings out of the deck. Have them in separate piles next to the deck, on the table/desk before the class. If you are missing any aces or kings, find the queens or any other four-of-a-kind.

If you can't find regular cards, UNO cards are a substitute Find the four wild cards & the four +4 cards. If you can't find them, use four +2 cards and four "miss-a-turn" cards. Then count out 44 cards. That will give you a total of 52 to use.
Regular cards are preferred.

One rubber band that can fit around four fingers like on the video (a couple of extra and different sizes will help it one breaks or we need to find a different size for the student's hand)

Tear/cut a piece of printer paper into sixths. Approxiamately 4 1/4” x 3 2/3”. Roll two pieces into two little balls.
or
Two pieces of aluminum foil, 3x6"
or
Two squares of toilet paper (this is a perfect size, but regular paper is easier for the students)

The Magic School with James Cielen.

I'm a professional magician from Las Vegas. I've won some of the biggest awards in the industry:
•The Gold Medal, International Award of Excellence
•The Las Vegas People's Choice Awards
•The Siegfried & Roy Gold Lion Award
•The Society of American Magic Milbourn Christopher Award.

I teach not only HOW the tricks work, but WHY they work. When you know why people are fooled, it's way easier to fool them.
I lecture to magicians and I've taught hundreds of thousands of people how to perform magic.

I teach:
1) clever beginner tricks that don't require sleight of hand
2) beginner sleight of hand. The secret moves that require practice. Forcing cards, false shuffling, palming objects.

Not only do you learn the tricks but what to say and how to perform them. I cover the common mistakes so that you won't make those mistakes!

Magic has taken me around the world many times. Let me teach you some great tricks to amaze your audiences!

This is your chance to have fun and learn from a top pro!
