Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
* I offer a beginner ‘Magic E’ course called, “Magic E: Spelling CVCe Words Like Magic.” That class is better suited for students new to using magic e to change the vowel from a short sound to a long sound.

**This class is a great follow up to my original “Magic E: Spelling CVCe Words Like Magic” class. Various times available.

CVCe words are words that are spelled with a Consonant-Vowel-Consonant + e like “cape, tube, pine.” This class is a great follow up to my ‘Magic E, Spelling CVCe words Like Magic’ class, or as a stand alone class. Students in this class should be reading CVC words, (like “cap, hug, bet, pin, rob”) and understand that adding ‘e’ to the end of some CVC words causes the vowel to say it’s long sound. Students will do best in this class if they already have a strong understanding of long and short vowel sounds.

We will begin with a quick review of how Magic E magically changes the sound of the vowel in a word. Students will then have the opportunity sing, read, write, and engage in lively class activities, all while practicing words with Magic E. This is a fun practice class for an important reading concept that should leave students feeling confident reading and spelling words with Magic E. Worksheets for printing will be provided in the classroom prior to our session. Please bring these, along with all materials, to class.
