Description
Class Experience
We will read some of the biggest and best fantasy series in the Magic and Mythology book clubs and discuss at each meeting. We will read series like The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Chronicles of Prydain, and more! We will also watch adaptations of the movies if there is one for a particular book or series and then compare/contrast the two. This edition of the Magic and Mythology book club will focus on the Percy Jackson series and the Greek gods and goddesses....
I have run book clubs before in high schools and in the public library I work in. This is a favorite series of many students. I researched book clubs while working on my master's degree in Library Science where I specialized in Youth Services and Literature.
Students need to read each book during the time frame given.
A library card! Each student needs to have access to each book. Most libraries should have most of these books. Each student also needs to have access to the movie if there is one.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 4+ hours per week outside of class.
